Flights take off only after a comprehensive inspection of weather and wind direction in the Everest region. After the experts have finally signaled that it is safe to fly, only then we execute the tour.
Moreover, it is important to note that we will not stay at Kala Patthar for more than 10 minutes since it is located at a very high altitude. Since we will gain such heights (5,545m) in such a short time, staying for long may cause health hazards.
The Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour takes about 4 to 5 hours for completion. However, the helicopter will fly for approximately 2-3 hours all together. There will be 15 to 30 minutes of layover in between.
Most of the time, we land Kala Patthar. It is better to land at Kala Patthar since it offers a better view as compared to the base camp itself.
It depends. While trekking to Everest Region is a viable option to get down and dirty with nature, EBC Helicopter Tour provides the luxury to experience Everest from a bird’s-eye perspective. Now, of course, you will have some ground time, but not as much as if you were to trek.
Therefore, if you are happy spending long hours (approximately 5-8 hours) trekking for weeks, then go for it. But if you wish to save time and are an adrenaline junkie then the Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour with landing is the way to go.
The Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour with landing in Nepal can be done throughout the year since it only requires a few hours of the day. However, Spring and Autumn seasons are probably the best time for the helicopter tour since the sky is clean with minimal probability of rainfall.
It is very not likely that you suffer from AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) also known as altitude sickness given the safety precautions which will be adopted as a top priority of the tour.
In case you suffer from altitude sickness, first-aid treatment will be given. If the condition worsens, you will be transferred to a lower altitude location or Kathmandu directly. From there, further treatment will be provided if necessary.
